The Daily Divine for Thursday, July 2, 2026

Before I get into the Elder Futhark Rune of the day, I wanted to update what's been going on with me lately.

I started this journey at the beginning of June after losing my job due to a toxic manager who was too cowardly to fire me directly and instead had someone else do it because I dared to disagree with her.  She proceeded to tell the team that I was released because of "performance concerns" which was confusing because the team I led was the top performing team out of three teams.

Shortly there after, I had to have a tooth extraction because I lost my insurance, my income and was unable to pay to have a root canal and crown on a tooth I broke a week before I was let go from my job.  I spent a week in excruciating pain before finally getting some relief.  But I was yet to get a reprieve as my elderly, emotional support animal, a miniature schnauzer named Cassie, had a doggy stroke (also known as vestibular disease or old dog vertigo).  I was unsure if we were going to have to put her down.

That brings us to today when she's on the mend, my extraction is healing nicely, and I still have yet to find a source of income, but I'm going to keep pushing forward with all the irons I have in the fire in hopes of finding an income that allows me to be me without having to work within someone else's ideals or agendas.

So with that, today, I pulled the Elder Futhark Rune, Jera.  Here are my thoughts on the meaning behind this rune:

The Elder Futhark Rune of the Day for today, Thursday, July 2, 2026 is Jera or Harvest. What's interesting about this rune is that most people would say that harvest is a time in the autumn (think September or October), but harvest can occur all summer long. As a matter of fact, herbalists will often forage throughout the entirety of the summer to find growing things to help hone their apothecary for the year. And in that, they celebrate each item they are able to forage.

So when thinking about your life, including your love life, consider this a time of reaping, renewing, celebration. It can be for more than plants and foods. With love, reaping, renewing, and celebration starts with one's self. You must be able to find love in yourself, renew that love, and celebrate the love for yourself before you know how to do that same for another person. If you've done this work and have a special someone, today is a day for enjoying that harvest. To love yourself and be able to love someone else, is truly a special reward.

Harvest needs to focus on cycles of planting, tending, and reaping. It requires patience. It's living in tandem with the natural flow of life. It's understanding that completion starts with fertilization and ends with death. And if you are talking about plants, perennials will renew themselves with each cycle. So you allow the reward of that beauty to grace your garden. Translate that to love and you can see that love accepts the creation of life, requires tending and care, and will ultimately end in death. This is the full circle of the natural flow of all living things.

Avoid shying away from the hard truths and instead hold them dear, recognizing that time passes, life is fleeting, and what you have now is worth celebrating. Take the day to give thanks to whatever deity you follow for granting you a day to bask in the rewards that life holds whether we are weathering a storm or find ourselves on calm seas, there is always a way to find gratitude for the cycle of life we find ourselves.
